There were rumors over the weekend that the Los Angeles Lakers had promised Mitchell Robinson they’d select him with the No. 25 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, rumors that appeared to gain more credence based on the fact that five of the six major mock drafts looked at by Silver Screen and Roll had projected him to land in L.A.

Those rumors hitting social media were hardly a guarantee we’d get any type of confirmation on them one way or the other — and this is hardly confirmation in either direction, to be clear — but enterprising Reddit user daftmunt noticed Robinson’s most recent two Twitter likes and posted them on the Lakers subreddit, and they would seem to lend credence to the idea that Robinson may be bound for the purple and gold.

Robinson’s account isn’t verified, but the fact that the account is followed by Jeff Goodman and Jonathan Givony of ESPN, as well as USA Basketball, would seem to imply that it’s the real him.

Now, does that mean Robinson is guaranteed to be a Laker? Hardly. Plenty of millennial have been know to like just about any tweet fired their way, and just like many bios will remind you that “retweets don’t equal endorsements,” neither do Twitter likes.

Still, there is starting to be a lot of smoke around Robinson, which would make one think there might be some fire as well. It will be impossible to confirm who the Lakers are going to select until draft night, because even if the team did promise Robinson, that doesn’t mean another organization might not take him before the 25th pick rolls around.

However, it’s starting to look more and more likely that Robinson is the Lakers’ preferred guy at No. 25, and that such knowledge could be behind his shutting down all workouts at the 2018 NBA Draft Combine.
