The chance of Paul George heading to the Lakers in free agency this summer has been one of the most oft-discussed topics surrounding the purple and gold for over a year now, and the latest development came when George and the Oklahoma City Thunder fell to the Utah Jazz in the first round.
Given how many people seemed to think the Thunder could make some noise in the postseason when the team first added George and Carmelo Anthony to a roster already featuring reigning MVP Russell Westbrook, will the defeat be disappointing enough to convince George to come to L.A.? Anthony and I had some thoughts.
Then, Locked on Lakers had the privilege of being joined by Lakers fan favorite and one of Kobe Bryant’s favorite former teammates, Ronny Turiaf, to discuss his NBA career, time in purple and gold, what it was like playing with Bryant, Luke Walton and the rest of the those Lakers teams, and his inspiring return from a heart condition that threatened his NBA career before it even began.
Finally, I gave my final hot take as a regular co-host of the show, as I will be departing Locked on Lakers to focus on my role here at Silver Screen and Roll (something you can read more about in my return post, if you’re so inclined). All that and more on my final episode of Locked on Lakers.
It’s been a pleasure podcasting for all of you, and I’ll miss working with Anthony and the rest of the Locked on Network, but I know he and Pete Zayas (Laker Film Room) will do great things for the show moving forward.
