Another day, another game with no Lonzo Ball or Brandon Ingram. The latest news coming out of the locker room is no bueno, as the Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly ruled out Ball and Ingram for Tuesday’s matchup against the Utah Jazz. The duo also sat out Sunday’s game against the Sacramento Kings.
According to Bill Oram of the OC Register, Ball is just healthy enough to play, but head coach Luke Walton doesn’t want to risk anything serious, especially because the last six games of the season have no postseason implications.
“We’re not gonna wait until he’s all the way healthy,” Walton said, “if that happens.”
As for Ingram, the 20-year-old forward is still in the NBA’s concussion protocol. It’s unclear how his concussion-like symptoms came about, but apparently they’re still lingering almost five days later.
If Ingram and Ball are out on Tuesday, they’ll likely be out Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs as well. Assuming that is true, the soonest Ball and Ingram would be able to return is Friday, when the Lakers host the Minnesota Timberwolves.
We’ll provide updates when they become available, but until then, enjoy some quality time with the family because the Lakers won’t be playing enjoyable basketball for at least the next two games
