Future All-Stars Predictions

The NBA has a lot of young talent who can make their All-Star appearances very soon.

The 2018 NBA All-Star game was the best we have seen in quite some time. The competitiveness that was showed by LeBron James and his team as well as Stephen Curry and his team made the game worth watching again. But also seeing some first time All-Stars like Joel Embiid, Bradley Beal, and Victor Oladipo has gotten me thinking who do I believe will very soon be NBA All-Stars. There is a bunch of young talent with All-Star potential and I will go over all of them.

Ben Simmons

*Ben Simmons was not once, not twice, but snubbed from this year's All-Star game three times. If he was able to make the All-Star game this season, he would be the first rookie since Blake Griffin in 2011 to make the All-Star game and I know, I know he's not considered a "true" rookie. But under circumstances, he's still a rookie. Simmons is currently averaging 16.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.3 assists which is clearly All-Star like numbers that he can clearly continue to do for his career playing alongside Joel Embiid.

Brandon Ingram

*Probably the player with the most potential in that 2016 Draft is Brandon Ingram. While Ben Simmons is clearly an up and coming star, but Brandon Ingram is right behind him. Ingram while more developed this year has had a semi-breakout second season averaging 16.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists. If there wasn't an abundance of stars in the Western Conference, I believe Ingram could have made the All-Star team this season. But soon Ingram would make one and it's a given that he will.

Devin Booker

*Devin Booker is clearly a future All-Star baring major injury. He would have been in the event this year if he did not go down earlier this season with his groin injury. As the reigning JBL Three Point Contest champion, Booker would be another 13th overall pick who would become a superstar in this league. An MVP Candidate? That might be pushing it a little for Booker. Booker is currently averaging 24.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists for the Phoenix Suns.

D'Angelo Russell

*Baring major injury like the one he had earlier in the season, D'Angelo Russell is a sure fire All-Star in the league. Though right now, he's not looking like a future All-Star but what people tend to forget is that Russell is only 21 years old - will be 22 on February 23rd. Before he went down with his knee surgery, D'Angelo Russell was averaging 21.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists on 46% shooting from the field but due to his minutes restriction after coming back from injury, Russell has resulted into a bench role which likely he will be put back in the starting lineup once the break is done.

Lonzo Ball

If Lonzo Ball can continue to be a legit triple double threat as he continues to grow, focus more on basketball than building his brand and if he can somehow prevent his father from burning down the Lakers bridge, Ball would be an All-Star in no time. Despite starting this season as one of the worst shooters in NBA history, Ball has gotten much better over time. However, he has missed the last 3 weeks with a knee injury but is said to return next game. He is currently averaging 10.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 7.1 assists.

Donovan Mitchell

*There is something about these 13th overall picks that just seem to have some sort of superstar impact. First Kobe Bryant, then Devin Booker. Now once again, Donovan Mitchell has entered the scene. While many would say "Well, unlike Lonzo Ball, he did not come in with so much media pressure,". Mitchell did come into the league unknown and was barely getting playing time off the bench for the Utah Jazz. Now he might be the first rookie since Blake Griffin and Tyreke Evans to average 20 points in their rookie year.

Andrew Wiggins

*It is gonna take a major breakout year for Andrew Wiggins to become an All-Star but I think he has what it takes to have that breakout year. After averaging 23 points last season, Wiggins right now is only averaging 17.5 points primarily because with the additions of Jimmy Butler and Jeff Teague and with Karl-Anthony Towns being the focal of the Timberwolves offense, Wiggins has resulted into the third option of the Wolves. Maybe if Wiggins is able to find his own team, possibly team up with Devin Booker in Phoenix or D'Angelo Russell in Brooklyn, he would reach his All-Star status faster.

Zach Lavine

*We didn't forget about you Zach Lavine. From being the third member of the trio of promising young core with the Minnesota Timberwolves, to one of the key major franchise faces to the Chicago Bulls. It took a very long time for Lavine to return from his ACL injury last year but he is proving over the last 2 weeks that he can clearly lead a team. He is also showing that his ACL injury did not slow him down...it shouldn't have. He's still pretty young.

Hassan Whiteside

*All it would take for Hassan Whiteside to make an NBA All-Star team is for him to remain healthy, to stay consistent and not run into any trouble. Whiteside right now is the first or second best player on the Miami Heat aside of Goran Dragic, but he can never stay healthy enough to have a legit All-Star season. Whiteside is currently averaging 14.9 points, 11.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks.

Julius Randle

*I'm gonna be honest. Julius Randle will not become an All-Star as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. He needs to be on a team that would make him the first or second option on the team. With Dirk Nowitzki on the mend and possibly getting ready to retire, the Dallas Mavericks are a team that Randle could reach his true potential on. I know Lakers fans will be mad at me for saying that, but it's the truth. Randle completely changed his body this offseason and is showing this season. Averaging 14.4 points and 7.6 rebounds in under 26 minutes of playing time.

Clint Capela

*Playing along side James Harden and Chris Paul has turned Clint Capela into a beast. One of the most efficient young players in the league right now and is very excellent defensively.
