Fans of the Los Angeles Lakers will get their first taste of life without LeBron James on Thursday, when the Sacramento Kings host L.A. for their second meeting of the season.

In this week’s episode of “Can You Dig It?”, Grant Goldberg and Christian Rivas discuss whether or not the Lakers are talented enough to win games without not just James, but Rajon Rondo, who suffered a sprained right ring finger against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday.

On nights when the Lakers’ young players have struggled, head coach Luke Walton has been able to lean on Rondo and James, two intelligent and battle-tested veterans that can make the most of almost any situation. Do Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma have what it takes to lead the Lakers to wins until they return?

They also talked about the resurgence of Ivica Zubac and what his role will be when the team’s starting center, JaVale McGee, recovers from pneumonia.

Zubac has been a big positive for the Lakers in McGee’s absence, averaging 17.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per over the last three games, but has it been enough to knock McGee out of the first unit?

Prior to falling ill, McGee was averaging 11.8 points. 6.7 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game. While Zubac has been productive with the starters, McGee’s chemistry and track record with the first unit might work in his favor this time around.

Finally, the guys preview the week ahead for the Lakers, which includes two games against the Kings and their first matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers of the season. Can you dig it?
