Because the transaction demands more attention than the action, speculation surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers recently has been exponentially more focused on whether they can pull off a trade for Trevor Ariza than whether they can keep pace with teams currently atop the Western Conference.
So that’s where the focus of today’s podcast content will start, though there is plenty of actual basketball to talk about, too.
Can You Dig It?
If the Lakers find a trade that they like for Trevor Ariza, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has to green light it for it to go through. In this week’s episode of “Can You Dig It?”, Christian and Grant try to find the perfect new team for KCP, who can still be a valuable player for a contending team, including the Lakers if they don’t trade him.
They also discuss the emergence of Kyle Kuzma, and who his NBA player comp is if he continues to trend upward at this rate.

Locked on Lakers
On today’s episode, I welcomed Matt Moore of The Action Network to
fight to the death over discuss just how good the Lakers might be. Before we get to that, though, I was curious if Matt was picking up on some of the same vibes I’ve been as it pertains to this Ariza trade situation. Basically, I can’t help but feel like the more we hear about negotiations, the less likely a deal becomes.
We also decided whether Ariza is actually an upgrade from KCP, and came to the conclusion that it all comes down to fit.
Other topics discussed were Lonzo Ball’s defense, Tyson Chandler turning the season around, Brandon Ingram and a lot more. Listen to the full conversation below and ensure you won’t miss an episode by subscribing on iTunes.
