Lakers vs. Grizzlies: Start time, TV schedule and game preview

Can the Lakers make it five wins in a row?

NBA: Memphis Grizzlies at Los Angeles Lakers Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers are set for another early tip-off, taking on the Memphis Grizzlies during the NBA’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day marathon of games. What once looked like a very winnable game while the Lakers ride their longest winning streak of the season is now up in the air.

Lonzo Ball is officially listed as questionable after feeling soreness in his left knee and undergoing a “precautionary” MRI on Sunday. The Lakers have since finalized signing Gary Payton II to a two-way contract, adding a fresh option to possibly address their lack of point guard depth beyond Ball. He joins Alex Caruso as the Lakers’ duo of two-way contract players.

The Grizzlies are one of the three Western Conference teams with a worse record than the Lakers, though that didn’t matter last time around. Memphis beat the Lakers less than a month ago, an ugly loss for the purple and gold in the middle of their nine-game losing streak.

Hopefully the outcome this time around, with or without Ball, is the other way around. The Lakers could be holders of a five-game winning streak if they can sneak away from Memphis with a win. If it’s sans Ball, hopefully that means he’ll be ready to suit up to face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday.

Enjoy the game!
