It didn’t take long for news of Lonzo Ball and his family landing their own reality television series once he became a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, and the world is about to get its first taste of what’s in store on “Ball in the Family.”
The series, produced by the same company behind MTV’s “The Real World” or, more recently notable, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” is handling the 10-episode season. The show will air as part of the initial Facebook Watch programming schedule, the company’s foray into funded episodic content.
It’s a seemingly perfect fit for Big Baller Brand, taking the opportunity to jump onto a new platform in a mutually beneficial partnership. The upstart venture from Facebook will enjoy serious exposure from one of the most talked-about players in the NBA, while the Ball family has the chance to take their stardom to the next level.
Some will recoil at the idea of watching the off-court happenings of the Ball family, others will enjoy every second of it and another sect will be unable to look away. Expect this to be a very “different strokes, different folks” situation, but it promises to offer a unique window into Lonzo’s life.
The first two episodes will be available Aug. 31, with more new episodes dropping beginning Sept. 10. Until then, the trailer for the first batch of episodes will have to hold you over:
Ball in the FamilyThe Ball family is changing the game on and off the court. Meet LaVar, Tina, and their three sons– all born to go pro. For LaVar, it’s all going to plan. But in life, there are some things you just can’t prepare for. Watch only on Facebook.
