Kevin Durant says the historical NBA players he’d most want to play with are Magic Johnson and Wilt Chamberlain

Michael Jordan. LeBron James. Kobe Bryant. All are among the greatest players in NBA history, but none of them were among the two Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant chose when asked which players he’d most want to play with in the history of the NBA.

"It'd probably have to be Wilt Chamberlain, or I'll go Magic Johnson,” Durant said during a YouTube livestream on his channel. “It's a tie between those two. Magic is next level. I'm a huge Magic fan."

Durant wanting to play with a scorer as ball-dominant as Chamberlain was is somewhat of a surprise, but maybe Durant was just trying to be different and/or valuing Chamberlain’s legendary assists away from the court.

Books on the Showtime Lakers have made it clear Johnson had a few of those types of assists too, but the on-court reasons to want to play with him are far more obvious. Johnson was one of the best passers in NBA history, a legendary set-up man who would’ve fed Durant in transition for approximately 40 points a game in the 80’s. Plus, Johnson is basically charisma incarnate, by all accounts one of the most fun-to-be-around teammates ever.

No word on whether or not the Warriors are going to pettily file tampering charges against the Lakers for one of their players liking two former Lakers, but I would hazard a guess probably not.

At least until Johnson goes on Jimmy Kimmel to wink at Durant, too.
