Lakers News: Lonzo Ball will have his weird looking shot in NBA 2K18

It’s worked for him so far. Now you can try it out!

Los Angeles Lakers rookie point guard Lonzo Ball’s unorthodox, side-winding lead-up into his jumper was the subject of much debate during the period before the 2017 NBA Draft. Would it cause him issues in the NBA? Would it be too easy to block? How many egg avis would tweet shooting tips at him before he deleted his Twitter account?

We won’t ultimately have the answer to most of those questions until the season, but Ball didn’t seem to have too many issues getting his shot off during NBA Summer League, and it seems unlikely he’s going to be changing it any time soon based on the accuracy he’s been able to have with it throughout his career so far.

Perhaps for that reason, after revealing that Ball will be rated an 80 overall, NBA 2K revealed Wednesday on Twitter that Ball’s shot — in all of its weirdo glory — will be making it in to the 2018 edition of their game when it releases before the season:

Ball’s shot has worked at every level except summer league so far, which could just be an adjustment to the increased range of NBA threes. He doesn’t have a whole lot of reason to mess with it yet, and thus now we can all have “fun” getting thrown off by what will surely be weird timing of his shot release in 2K18. Get ready to throw some controllers when you lose a game because of it, and in honor of Ball, go ahead and throw the controller from behind your head (somehow).
