Kobe Bryant is set to release his next Nike shoe on Aug. 24, a fitting date considering he’ll forever be linked to his career with the Los Angeles Lakers wearing both 8 and 24.
It appears to be a mid-top version of his most recent shoe, the Kobe AD, though design-wise the shoe looks markedly different. It’s unclear if this will be the next “edition” of his annual shoe release with Nike, though as it stands it’s being marketed as a new version of the first post-retirement shoe he released last year, nicknamed “Mamba Mentality.”
The theme of the new batch of shoes is color design, each shoe taking on a different hue to represent a different emotion and focus. Nike dropped a nice sizzle reel featuring some narration by Kobe to reveal the shoe.
“Mamba mentality is a constant quest to find answers. It’s that infinite curiosity to want to be better, to figure things out. Mamba mentality is you’re going, you’re competing, you’re not worried about the end result.
“You’re not worried about what people may say. You’re not worried about disappointing others. You’re not worried about any of that, you’re just focused on being in the moment. That’s what mamba mentality truly is,” Kobe explains.
But we’re here for the shoes, so enjoy a colorful look at the next set of Kobes to hit your local Foot Locker’s shelves:
