The NBA is slowly releasing the 2017-2018 regular season schedule, hosting a special on NBA TV to release opening week and Christmas Day games. To no one’s surprise, the Los Angeles Lakers are lacing up their sneakers on Christmas as a featured team during one of the NBA’s marquee days.
The Lakers are hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves, making for what should be an exciting 48 minutes of basketball. Tossing Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins, Jimmy Butler, Lonzo Ball, Julius Randle, Brandon Ingram and the rest of the talent between these two teams together is a solid look from the NBA.
The game will be aired at 7:30 p.m. PT on TNT.
The Lakers last played the LA Clippers on Christmas Day, delivering a win that snapped a four-game losing streak and was followed by the purple and gold losing the next three games. It certainly didn’t hurt that both Blake Griffin and Chris Paul were both out for the festivities last season, letting Lakers fans enjoy a win as one of their gifts.
There’s no word yet on whether Nike will be introducing Christmas Day uniforms, something that has become a staple at Staples Center on the holiday.
The full NBA schedule is expected to be released sometime next week, featuring logistical changes to reduce the amount of DNP-Rest teams hand out to their healthy players.
