There was a ton of excitement surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers as they entered Las Vegas Summer League, and the viewership of their run to their first ever summer league title reflected that reality.

Not only was the Lakers July 8 matchup against the Boston Celtics the first sellout in the history of the event, it also boasted the biggest T.V. audience ever for summer league game ever, according to ESPN. The network announced that 1,106,000 people tuned in to watch the Lakers’ final loss of the tournamenet before the team won six straight games on their run to the title.

That wasn’t the only game Lakers fans tuned in for. The Lakers were part of six of the seven most-watched games of 2017 summer league, helping make it the most-watched summer league ever with a viewership increase of 112 percent from the prior year.

All that is to say, despite their struggles, the Lakers’ brand is certainly not dead. Lakers fans are a dedicated bunch, and if the front office continues to put exciting players on the floor, it’s clear they’ll continue to show up in droves.
