Lonzo Ball’s great summer league continued Thursday as the Los Angeles Lakers took on the Cleveland Cavaliers. He messed around and got a triple double as the Lakers won 94-83.
A few things stood out in the game:
First and foremost, the Lakers are getting out in transition because they know they’re going to be rewarded for doing so. So long as defenses run back with their heads down, those passes should continue to open up the game for anyone on the court.
Lonzo also has made a point of attacking closeouts aggressively. This gets back to his incredible instincts and ability to remain a couple steps ahead of the defense so as to better attack whenever presented the opportunity.
Lastly, the chemistry he’s developed with Kyle Kuzma stands out. This isn’t to say Ball is solely responsible for any and all of Kuzma’s success, but it should make fans downright giddy to think about the rapport he could develop with talents like Brandon Ingram or Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
