The Los Angeles Lakers are barreling into a new era defined by Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram, based on the quotes coming out of El Segundo, and aren’t looking back. The front office has been busy introducing the various new players on the team, giving Kyle Kuzma, Thomas Bryant and Josh Hart their moment Thursday afternoon.
The focus has been on the future with their new pieces, but the Lakers still have their own young talent the be excited about. Julius Randle, in particular, has been busy putting in hard work all summer.
That’s one of the reasons president of basketball operations Magic Johnson spoke so highly of Randle, who he believes is primed to have a monster year.
“I think Julius Randle is going to have a breakout season, the league better watch out,” Magic said during an interview with Mike Bresnahan and Chris McGee of Spectrum SportsNet.
”This guy has all of the athletic ability. Now he’s working on his shot, he’s working on his right hand, and he’s already worked on his body. With Lonzo Ball running that point, I think he’s going to really have a breakout season and excite our fan base on the end of that pass from Lonzo” Magic said.
Randle should definitely benefit from playing at an the uptempo pace Magic expects Lonzo to push, and if his physical fitness progress so far this summer is any indication:
He very well could be on his way to breaking out next season.
