Despite having been hailed as basketball’s next big thing since he was a high schooler, Lonzo Ball doesn’t seem to have let all of the success go to his head. His father may brag from the rooftops on his behalf, but Ball appears to be quiet and mostly just focused on basketball.
Perhaps nothing illustrates that reality better than how Ball spent his final days before Magic Johnson would select him with the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft and declare him “the new face of the Lakers.”
Most might expect a player so highly touted and about to be chosen to save his hometown team to spend his time before the big event celebrating their accomplishments thus far, but not Ball. Instead, he spent his final days before becoming a Laker working out with his family at their home in Chino Hills, and the NBA Draft’s official Twitter account gave us a look inside that process:

Ball certainly has a ton of hype to live up to, but with his work ethic, it seems like he’s going to do everything within his power to meet the prodigious expectations for him.
