The Los Angeles Lakers traded D’Angelo Russell in order to free up cap space for the summer of 2018. But just because attaching Russell to Timofey Mozgov’s contract might ultimately result in the Lakers signing better players next summer doesn’t mean that the current ones won’t miss one of the players they’ve suited up alongside for the last year or two.

This was a really nice gesture from Zubac to his departing teammate, and certainly a whole lot classier than the way a certain Lakers executive hit Russell with the proverbial door on the way out. Maybe players didn’t hate playing with Russell so much after all.
