LaVar Ball says Lonzo Ball is taking the Lakers to the playoffs in his rookie season

Did you expect anything else?

NBA: Draft Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Fitting with their Big Baller Brand apparel name, LaVar Ball isn’t setting small expectations after the Los Angeles Lakers selected his son with the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

"Lonzo Ball is going to take the Lakers to the playoffs in his first year,” LaVar Ball said on the ESPN broadcast (as transcribed by Mike Bresnahan of Spectrum Sportsnet).

Lonzo Ball was easily the second-best prospect in the 2017 class, but at just 19-years old, it seems unlikely at best that he can power Los Angeles to the playoffs by himself in his rookie season.

However, with Paul George potentially on the way in a blockbuster trade, it’s at least possible the Lakers could make a run for the eighth seed. There is at least no point in doubting LaVar Ball, who is one for one so far on speaking Lakers-related things into existence.
