As the Los Angeles Lakers have moved forward with Rob Pelinka and Magic Johnson at the helm, one thing has become abundantly clear: They enjoy keeping everyone on their toes. It might be part of Magic’s vaunted offseason workout regimen.
This is no different, as ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reports that the Lakers are trying to acquire another first-round pick, and even one as high as in the lottery. According to Shelburne, they are looking to improve the team’s shooting and defense.
Looking at the assets they are currently working with, it’s pretty hard to see how they’ll pull this off, as Shelburne also reports they are “unlikely” to move the number two pick.
This leaves the 28th pick, along with the stash of prospects ranging anywhere from Brandon Ingram (whom they consider untouchable, per several reports) to Tyler Ennis for all we know.
It’s pretty hard to see this coming to fruition, but it is exciting to know Magic and Pelinka are doing all they can to utilize each and every opportunity to improve the Lakers’ standing moving forward.
