The Lakers are keeping things interesting if nothing else.

The Los Angeles Lakers are just over a week away from making their selection with the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft and are keeping everyone guessing along the way. The Lakers are holding a second workout with Kansas forward Josh Jackson, bringing him in to El Segundo for another look at the standout lottery talent.

The Lakers traveled to Sacramento to watch Jackson work out just days ago and apparently felt the need to bring him down to Southern California for a private workout. This, combined with conflicting reports about whether the Lakers have actually made a draft-day promise to Jackson, has created for a chaotic final stretch heading into draft week.

De’Aaron Fox worked out for the Lakers early Tuesday and will also have lunch with members of the Lakers brass. How that timing lines up with Jackson’s workout isn’t clear, but it’s more likely than not that anyone on the basketball operations side of things will be at the practice facility when it’s time for Round 2 with Josh.

Fox, Jackson and Lonzo Ball are the three players who were always going to be in the mix for the No. 2 pick, and the Lakers’ front office has treated it as such. All three incoming rookies have had a shot to prove themselves to the Lakers, but Jackson is the first of that group to come back for a second workout.

That, along with Jackson cancelling a potential workout with the Boston Celtics — who are almost certainly set to draft Markelle Fultz at No. 1 — has created buzz that Jackson could be Laker-bound.
