Update: According to Mark Medina of the Southern California News Group, it appears Fultz will work out with, in addition to meet with, the Lakers. Original story follows.

It wasn’t certain whether or not the Los Angeles Lakers would get a chance to meet with the 2017 NBA Draft’s presumptive No. 1 pick Markelle Fultz, who most expect to be selected by the Boston Celtics, but it appears they will get a shot.

Adam Zagoria of ZAGSBLOG reports that Fultz will meet with the Lakers this week. It is unclear whether or not Fultz will work out for the Lakers as well. The Lakers previously met with Fultz at the 2017 NBA Pre-Draft Combine, where he said he wants Magic Johnson to mentor him.

The only other team Fultz is known to have met with so far is the Boston Celtics.

Fultz’s Washington team wasn’t good, but his individual production was stellar as he averaged 23.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists in his freshman season before declaring for the draft.

What the Lakers gain from a meeting with Fultz is unclear because of the likelihood Boston will select him, but given Danny Ainge’s spotty draft history and the amount of rumors swirling about the Lakers’ uncertainty over who to select, anything is possible.
