Julius Randle has been hard at work this summer, taking his physical fitness to even greater heights. Conditioning was one of the biggest concerns about Randle following his Las Vegas Summer League debut, and a broken leg in Game 1 of his NBA career added further doubts.
Randle’s improved his athleticism dramatically since being drafted by the Lakers though, showing noticeable improvements each year since. He’s bringing his training to another level this summer, hitting some gritty workouts that we’ve been following along closely here at Silver Screen and Roll.
Randle’s been working directly with “transformation specialist” Amoila Jamil Cesar all summer, and he’s done quite a job with Randle to prove he’s worth the title. Cesar’s been posting progress and sessions he’s had with Randle throughout the offseason on Instagram, but the side-by-side comparison of before and after with Julius is astonishing.
This progress was made in “a little” over three weeks, according to Cesar’s caption:
If that’s what they’ve done in less than a month, who knows where Randle’s athleticism and overall fitness will be by the time training camp begins. That’s some phenomenal progress, and while Randle looked like he was in great shape - and he probably was - before, it’s clear they’re pushing to even greater heights now.
At this rate we should fully expect the Randlenaut to be crushing opponents for the Lakers next season, as our Grant Goldberg envisioned:
Randle’s also one of the many young Lakers who have been hitting voluntary workouts at the team’s training facility:
Sick gains, Julius.
