The Los Angeles Lakers plan to work out Pittsburgh forward Jamel Artis Tuesday, according to Michael Scott of Basketball Insiders. Scotto reports that Artis will also work out for the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.
Artis averaged 18.2 points on 54.5 percent shooting to go with 3.3 assists and 4.9 during his senior season, but the 24-year old wing is not ranked among Draft Express’ top-100 prospects. However, Artis is the site’s 28th ranked senior.
As with many of the prospects Los Angeles’ front office has worked out recently, Artis is likely not a candidate to be taken with the Lakers second or 28th overall picks, but is instead being looked for a potential Las Vegas Summer League roster spot.
Here is an updating list of every player the Lakers have worked out or met with. Harrison Faigen is co-host of the Locked on Lakers podcast (subscribe here), and you can follow him on Twitter at @hmfaigen.
