The Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics have one of the most storied rivalries in professional sports, with Magic Johnson vs. Larry Bird serving as one of the seminal moments in the decades-long war.
Johnson and Bird's teams' multiple meetings in the NBA Finals featured a particular brand of physicality (even for the era) and animostiy that leave the saga ripe with material for storytelling, which is why there has been so much ink spilled on the two teams over the years.
Now, ESPN is putting out a "30 for 30" documentary on the two squads, and there was enough meat for them to make it a two-parter. Dropping on June 13th, the documentary promises to be a walk down memory lane for those of a certain age, and a reminder that the Lakers used to be really good for the nine-year-olds who have went their whole lives without witnessing a Lakers' title.
The preview will get any fan of either team pumped up:
I think all Lakers fans can get behind the idea of watching this and pretending it's the real NBA Finals.
