If you’re asking “who?”, you aren’t alone. The only name on the above list on Draft Express’ top-100 prospect list is Reed, who the NBA Draft megasite has ranked 82nd after he averaged 11 points, six rebounds and four assists during his senior season at Miami.
All of these players are likely guys the Lakers are looking at as potential undrafted free agents the team could add to fill out the end of their Las Vegas Summer League roster with the potential to fight for a training camp spot.
That caveat aside, Jonathon Simmons is playing a huge role for the San Antonio Spurs after having to pay $150 to try out for their D-League team. David Nwaba is on the Lakers’ own roster after going undrafted in the D-League draft last summer.
The point is, teams can find diamonds in the rough in these types of tryouts. Fans shouldn’t necessarily expect the Lakers to find one here, but the team doing their due diligence and continuing to gather as much information about prospects as possible is important.
Here is an updating list of every player the Lakers have worked out or met with. Harrison Faigen is co-host of the Locked on Lakers podcast (subscribe here), and you can follow him on Twitter at @hmfaigen.
