Paul George went on Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday night, and while the Indiana Pacers forward’s comments on potentially joining the Los Angeles Lakers are probably going to get the most play, he also revealed another bit of news.
"Not yet,” George said when Kimmel asked if he had spoken with Bryant about joining the Lakers. “I plan on working out with him and picking his brain a little bit.”
George said he’s never worked out with Bryant before, but he joins Lakers forward Brandon Ingram on a list of NBA players who plan to work out with the retired superstar this summer.
Kimmel told George that Bryant was well-known for starting workouts at 4 a.m. and ditching less-than-dedicated pupils, something George said he’s “absolutely” nervous about.
"I'm training now to get ready to work out with him," George said with a laugh, but says he’s ready to rise to the challenge.
"If it's with Kob', whatever he says, you gotta do. It's the Mamba, you've got to listen to the Mamba,” George said.
Whether or not that adage includes listening to Bryant when and if he advises George to go to the Lakers is impossible to know, but all of Los Angeles is waiting with bated breath to find out.
