Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has never been accused of being soft-spoken. Cuban has delighted in tweaking players and referees alike over his tenure with Dallas, and the “Shark Tank” host has always held a special spot in his heart reserved for trolling the Lakers.
With that in mind, Cuban’s latest comments on the Lakers hiring Rob Pelinka as general manager and Magic Johnson as president of basketball operations are no surprise.
“I hope they fail miserably. I hope they fail horrifically,” Cuban told Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News. “I hope Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka go down as the worst GM/President combination in the history of GM/President combinations.”
However, Cuban added “but I hope they live wonderful lives,” so that’s nice.
If the Lakers’ new front office are true Lakers, the only appropriate way they can respond to these comments are the same way Pelinka’s former client Kobe Bryant responded when Cuban suggested the Lakers should amnesty him years ago: by fleecing the Mavericks in a trade and tweeting “fail THAT.”
