Jeanie Buss says Jim Buss is ‘completely unfit’ to run the Lakers

As predicted, this is getting ugly.

The fight control of the Los Angeles Lakers franchise is officially on. After deposed vice president of basketball operations Jim Buss and his brother Johnny attempted to stage a coup against Lakers president Jeanie Buss, the latter filed a restraining order against the two.

The two brothers later said they weren’t actually attempting a power grab, but Jeanie’s attorney hinted at a long legal battle ahead.

The ugliness has begun, with Jeanie calling Jim "‘completely unfit’” to run basketball operations for the Lakers,” according to a court document obtained by Nathan Fenmo of the Los Angeles Times. According to Fenmo, Jeanie added "I could not allow the damage being done to the franchise over the past few years to continue."

That sums up pretty well why she would have fired her brother, and it also makes it clear that the Lakers franchise may have a giant battle to wrest power over it in the months to come if Jim decides to continue his attempts to gain back decision-making power.
