NBA Trade Rumors: The Los Angeles Lakers tried to trade for DeMarcus Cousins

Update 8:44 PM: Sacramento has reportedly traded Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans, according to Wojnarowski for a package of “Buddy Hield and a 2017 first-round pick” as well as Philadelphia’s 2017 second-round pick and former King Tyreke Evans.

Langston Galloway will also reportedly be included and (likely) waived, per Wojnarowski.

The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly shut down talks on a possible trade for Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical.

Wojnarowski reports that talks broke down when Sacramento tried to get the Lakers to include 2017 second-overall pick Brandon Ingram as part of a package for the All-Star center, who played just two minutes in the All-Star game on Sunday night as trade talks intensified.

Ramona Shelburne of ESPN confirmed Wojnarowski’s report, writing that “a source tells ESPN they aren't [engaged in trade talks] anymore.”

Cousins has been productive for the Kings this season, averaging 27.8 points, 10.6 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.3 blocks per game on the year despite the typical dysfunction surrounding him in Sacramento.
