The Los Angeles Lakers gave everything they had to upset the Golden State Warriors Wednesday night but fell short in overtime. They’ve had two days off to cool off following the loss, and have hit the road to face the Denver Nuggets to kick off a weekend back-to-back.
The two-day layoff gave rookie Kyle Kuzma enough time to put his back spasms behind him. A “precautionary” MRI came back negative Thursday, and the Lakers now expect Kuzma to suit up in Denver, according to sideline reporter Mike Trudell.
The Lakers are in the midst of a three-game losing streak, matching their longest stretch of the season without notching a win. Breaking that on the road, in Denver, is a tall task but one the squad might have some help with. Nikola Jokic has been ruled out of the game due to a left ankle sprain, Paul Millsap is out approximately three months after injuring his wrist against the Lakers a few weeks ago, and Wilson Chandler is considered questionable after missing the Nuggets’ previous two games.
This is a big game for the Lakers, who have to travel back to Los Angeles to host the Houston Rockets on Sunday. Following that, they’ll be in the air for a tough four-game road trip across the East Coast, so picking up a win against Denver is paramount.
LA beat Denver in their previous meeting, with seven Lakers reaching double-digit scoring totals in a complete effort. Lonzo Ball also notched his second triple-double of the season in that outing, so let’s see if he can replicate that kind of production in one of the toughest places to play on the road.
Enjoy the game!
