The Los Angeles Lakers got a bit of a breather after getting off to an active start to the regular season. Hopefully they feel rested up, because with John Wall and the Washington Wizards coming to town, they may be in for a long game.
All eyes will be on Wall vs. Lonzo Ball Monday night, with one of the quickest guards in the NBA getting his crack at Lonzo. The former Kentucky Wildcat is the toughest matchup yet for Lonzo, and is the clear storyline to keep an eye on.
Hopefully wearing the colors of his old stomping grounds at UCLA will help Lonzo feel it Wednesday night. The Lakers are debuting their throwback “MPLS” jerseys they’ll be wearing this season, which are looking pretty good if you haven’t gotten a look at them yet.
Aside from the obvious Wall threat, dealing with both Bradley Beal and Otto Porter is no walk in the park either. Porter has become a serious scoring threat, averaging 18.3 points per game through three games this season while shooting 38 percent from deep. Beal also off to a hot start at 23.3 points per game.
Toss in Marcin Gortat pulling down boards, and the Wizards are looking strong in the Eastern Conference once again. They’re on a three-game winning streak, yet to lose during their new campaign.
Will that change Wednesday night in STAPLES Center? We shall see.
