While many fans were hoping the Los Angeles Lakers would bring back the showtime jerseys with Magic Johnson at the helm, new photos show that they’re going a few years further back from their classic uniforms.
In the latest NBA 2K roster update, the Lakers unveiled the throwback uniforms they’ll be wearing this season, which pays homage to the years the Lake Show spent in Minneapolis, Minnesota:
The Lakers moved from Minnesota to Los Angeles in 1960 after spending 13 years in “The Land of 10,000 Lakes.” During that time, they took home five championships to Minnesota led by Lakers legend George Mikan. This year marks 70 years of Lakers basketball.
Fans will get the chance to see Lonzo Ball in the baby blue and gold once again after he made a name for himself during his lone season at UCLA. Expect details to soon on when we can see the Lakers dawning their throwbacks.
