The Los Angeles Lakers closed out their preseason run with a 111-104 win over the LA Clippers, winning their second game of exhibition in their finale. These teams will meet again in just a handful of days when the games really start counting, but it was nice to end with a victory.
Brook Lopez established the Lakers’ lead early, anchoring the offense while they racked up 38 points in the first quarter. He finished with a team-high 15 points, going 2-for-5 from deep (7-of-12 overall). Brandon Ingram did a little bit of everything, having a solid night after struggling through much of preseason.
Ingram racked up 15 points, five assists and four rebounds. Kyle Kuzma had an off night, scoring eight points and missing all six of this three-point attempts. Tyrone Wallace (23 points) and Jawun Evans (22 points) led the way for the Clippers, who played without several of their main rotation players.
While Lonzo Ball we held out to avoid tweaking his ankle before it’s 100 percent, the Lakers weren’t able to escape unscathed. Julius Randle left the game early with back spasms, ruled out of the remainder of the game after immediately heading back to the locker room.
The Lakers end preseason with a win, now given a chance to concentrate as they continue to build up to the season opener on Oct. 19 against the Clippers.
