The Los Angeles Lakers are set to close their preseason out against their hallway rivals, the LA Clippers, Friday night in STAPLES Center. The Clippers, much like the Lakers, should have a very different feel this season.
Losing Chris Paul, one of the best point guards of our generation, leaves huge shoes to fill. The Clippers are hoping Milos Teodosic helps ease that transition. He’s the latest veteran overseas guard to make a late-career transition to the league.
The Lakers will be without Lonzo Ball as they wrap up exhibition, a not-entirely-surprising outcome as the franchise takes a measured approach to making sure his “minor” ankle injury is a thing of the past by opening night on Oct. 19. Andrew Bogut has also been ruled out, making him a no-show for all of preseason.
Brandon Ingram gets one more chance to see if he can dispel the funk he’s been in. He showed some positive signs, particularly as a pick-and-roll ball-handler pulling up for jumpers, but also had some struggles down the stretch. Another game, another chance for growth.
Enjoy the end of preseason, and the last bit of the team competing until they get to face the Clippers again on Oct. 19 for the regular season opener. Until then, friends.
