The Los Angeles Lakers and their fans might actually get to start fully enjoying basketball again. The roster is shaping back into form and will apparently get a huge piece back Tuesday night when they take on the Denver Nuggets.
Via their own Twitter account, the Lakers announced Tuesday morning that D’Angelo Russell would return to action this evening, his first live minutes since what appeared to be a nasty fall back on January 20. He played one minute in that game.
As he is nursing two injuries (a sprained MCL and and strain calf), one would imagine the Lakers will be pretty cautious in what they expect out of Russell tonight. Luke Walton wasn’t clear on whether they go so far as to limit his minutes, but that certainly wouldn’t seem out of the question.
This leaves only Julius Randle (pneumonia) as the last rotation player the Lakers need to be fully healthy since, well, 2016. Now, please, knock on the nearest piece of wood you can find.
