With the trade deadline rapidly approaching, the conversation has started to transition from the ups and downs of the Los Angeles Lakers’ season. One thing that doesn’t look like it will be changing rapidly any time soon: Lakers’ roster. John Ireland of ESPN’s most recent appearance on the “Locked on Lakers” podcast only further speaks to this sentiment.
“I’ve talked to people in the front office as recently as this week, and they like the group,” Ireland said. “They like the roster. I don’t think they’re looking to change it. It would have to be something landing in their lap.”
For whatever reason (and there are plenty), a transition has occurred from interest in the action, to the transaction. The Los Angeles Lakers showcase this to the nth degree, where fans spend hours debating who should take the 15th spot on the roster longer than they’d talk about how their team might match up with a team in a potential playoff battle.
Take a look at any social media platform. You’ll find that conversation. It’s incredible.
Be that as it may, the interest in personnel movement isn’t going anywhere, just as it doesn’t seem like anyone on the Lakers will have to worry themselves with moving companies anytime soon.
You can listen to the full interview below. It was a lot of fun, and featured a rumor about the Lakers’ backup guard situation, specifically.
