Lakers News: Metta World Peace calls Ivica Zubac a ‘better looking’ Marc Gasol

It’s fair to say Metta is a big fan of one of the team’s new rookies.

Metta World Peace has been known for dropping some of the best soundbites in NBA history during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers. While his latest comments can’t top his legendary NBA Finals game seven postgame press conference, World Peace’s thoughts on new Lakers’ rookie Ivica Zubac might leave fans similarly excited.

"Zubac is probably our most skilled player," World Peace told Chris McGee and Mike Bresnahan on Spectrum Sportsnet. :You know he does everything well and he's young. He's got both hands, up-and-unders, everything."

Zubac has also said he’s working on his skyhook during training camp, and while comparisons to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will have to wait, World Peace didn’t shy away from comparing Zubac to another All-NBA center.

"Absolutely, 100 percent [he's like a young Marc Gasol]," World Peace said. "A little bit better looking, that's the only difference. Marc, he's handsome, but this guy, he's very good looking.

"He's funny, he wears cologne before practice. He's just smooth."

It’s coming from the always zany World Peace, so it’s probably best to not just assume Zubac will win MVP this year. However, his strong summer league play and the promising rumblings coming out of camp could mean he’s poised to play a larger role for the Lakers than almost anyone is expecting.

Either that, or Metta just wants us to acknowledge Zubac's "Blue Steel" vibe:

Now THAT is what I call a cologne ad.
