Normally when rappers throw on the jersey of a local player for one of their concerts, it’s that of a superstar. Think LeBron James in Miami or Cleveland, or Stephen Curry in the Bay Area.
Drake, who is currently playing a set of concerts with Future in the Forum until Thursday night, decided to go a different direction. Instead of the Kobe Bryant or Magic Johnson jersey one might expect in Los Angeles, Drake went with one of the Lakers’ most beloved role players, Derek Fisher (h/t Alysha Tsuji of For The Win):
First off, if that second caption is a reference to Matt Barnes’ (then a member of the Memphis Grizzlies) and Fishers’ infamous tiff before last season, then Drake is the greatest subtweeter of all-time.
Fisher was recently hired as Spectrum Sportsnet as an analyst for around 20 games this season, and there is probably not a more perfect way to welcome him back to L.A., and the man himself agrees:
