With no basketball to be played and training camp still a month away, the Los Angeles Lakers have been spending some time around the Chavez Ravine. Julius Randle was there earlier this summer, appearing to have a grand ol’ time watching the Dodgers, and new head coach Luke Walton tossed out the first pitch a few weeks ago.
On Saturday, Randle was back with his fellow lottery pick D’Angelo Russell for the Dodgers’ “Hollywood Stars” celebrity game, and the two weren’t there just to watch. Russell and Randle suited up for opposite teams in blue and white Dodger’s jerseys, and while Randle’s baseball aptitude is unknown, Russell has previously said that if he weren’t a basketball player he would’ve pursued baseball as a career (Update: As frequent commenter Kilgary points out, Russell probably picked the right sport).
While some might have been “underwhelmed” with the resumes of a few of the “celebrities” participating, Russell and Randle’s bios looked pretty solid (h/t Grant Goldberg of Lakers Outsiders for the Dodgers’ Facebook Live stream screenshots):
And here are the two getting ready to hit the diamond:
There were also a bunch more shots of the pair on social media:
This won’t be the most meaningful chemistry building event this Lakers duo ever undergoes or anything. Still, it’s pretty cool to see the two hanging out outside of work and supporting the local baseball team, especially for those who are fans of both the Lakers and Dodgers.
