NBA Schedule 2016: The Lakers will reportedly play the Clippers on Christmas Day

Another cross-hall holiday for both Los Angeles teams.

The NBA schedule isn’t scheduled to be released for another hour or so, but Matt Moore of CBS Sports is reporting that the Los Angeles Lakers will face the Los Angeles Clippers on Christmas Day for the second season in a row.

Last year the Lakers’ lost a closer than expected game to their Staples Center co-tenants, with the young core nearly pulling off a Christmas miracle with a 25-4 run in the fourth quarter to get within striking distance of the Clippers after being down big. Unfortunately Doc “Scrooge” Rivers but a damper on that Christmas Carol, re-inserting his starters to close out the win.

The Lakers playing on Christmas isn’t really a surprise given how often they’ve played on the day in past years, but it is exciting to know who they’ll play. Now we just have to hope Santa Adam Silver doesn’t leave them any sleeved jerseys under the tree.
