The Los Angeles Lakers got two of their big moves out of the way on the first night of free agency, agreeing to four-year deals with Timofey Mozgov and Jordan Clarkson within hours of starting the negotiating period.
The team may now be looking for some cheaper contributions for the rest of their roster, a thought reinforced by international reporter David Pick's report the Lakers are one of five NBA teams currently showing "interest" in Canton Charge forward Nick Minnerath.
The 6'9 wing was one of the D-League's top scorers last season, averaging 18.5 points per game on 50.8 percent shooting while grabbing a very nice 6.9 rebounds per game for the Charge. Minnerath also knocked down 40.2 percent of his three-pointers, and at 6'9 boasts the prototypical size teams want from versatile wing players in the modern NBA.
The Lakers probably have a few more moves to make before trying to consummate any deal with Minnerath, but he is a potentially interesting name to add to their bench who would likely come at a very low price.
