Heading into the 2016 NBA Draft, nearly everyone expected the Los Angeles Lakers to select Brandon Ingram with the second overall pick. Most websites were writing it, the majority of radio and television pundits were saying it, and mock drafters everywhere felt safe in their projections through the first two picks in the draft.
Those on the outside weren't the only ones in total agreement about Ingram's merits. While disagreement is common (and at times, healthy) in front offices around the league during draft time, there was no arguing in the Lakers' war room when they came on the clock with the second pick.
Ingram "was the unanimous choice among Lakers decision-makers as the No. 2 pick," according to the always plugged-in Kevin Ding of Bleacher Report, and it's easy to see why. Lakers decision makers may have access to more information, but they got to watch the same player all year that the rest of saw as such a flawless fit for the team's rebuilding roster.
Lakers fans will get their first look at how well exactly Ingram will fit in just a few weeks, when the Lakers kick off Las Vegas Summer League on July 8th.
