It was widely expected, but it makes the pick no less exciting for success-starved fans of the purple and gold. The Los Angeles Lakers.selected 18-year old Duke forward Brandon Ingram with the second-overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft on Thursday night, another amazing moment in an increasingly sublime offseason.

The merits Ingram offers have been discussed ad nauseam, but suffice to say the gangly teenager with the sweet jumper projects to fit in seamlessly alongside the Lakers' young core of Julius Randle, D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, and Larry Nance, Jr. moving forward.

Lakers fans can get their first look at Ingram on the court when the team kicks off Las Vegas Summer League against the New Orleans Pelicans on July 8th, but until then, just enjoy this moment Lakers fans. After the three worst seasons in the history of the franchise, you've earned it.
