The Los Angeles Lakers won't officially make their pick in the 2016 NBA Draft until this Thursday, June 23rd. However, which player they will select seems like essentially a foregone conclusion.
All signs are pointing towards the Philadelphia 76ers selecting Ben Simmons with the first overall pick, giving the Lakers the opportunity to take Brandon Ingram second overall. Los Angeles reportedly won't let Ingram get past them in the draft, and there are plenty of reasons for the team to be high on the Duke forward.
Ingram is the type of lengthy athlete that projects to be a standout wing defender as he puts some weight on his frame. The one-and-done Blue Devil is also a deadeye shooter who knocked down 41 percent of his three-pointers during his time in college.
Ingram's intangibles are additionally appealing, and serve as the focus of the mini-documentary Duke Men's Basketball released on Monday, From his quiet competitiveness to anecdotes like how he skipped his prom to go work out, the video is well worth a watch for any Lakers fans who want to get excited about the team's probable pick:
