Ben Simmons posts picture with D'Angelo Russell on Foot Locker set

The friendship between the potential teammates has been clear all year. They're at it again, this time on set for a commercial.

Ben Simmons and D'Angelo Russell's friendship has been extremely well-reported to this point. While Russell would obviously welcome Brandon Ingram if the latter was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers, you can't help but feel like he's pulling for the Sixers to pass up on the LSU power forward.

Simmons' preference between the Sixers and Lakers has also been something of a storyline, which has become exacerbated by his unwillingness to work out for anyone leading up to next week's NBA draft. The conspiracy theories would really start swirling if we were to find out about a workout for the Lakers and chaos is fun, but no workout has been reported and/or tweeted about.

This might shock you, but that hasn't stopped the conspiracy theories.

Anywho, Simmons and Russell caught a few eyes this afternoon after Simmons posted a picture on his instagram of the two together on set for a Foot Locker commercial. Because people are so hungry for news, this circulated throughout social media.

I want to be clear: By no means am I reading into this as some kind of indication of where Simmons would prefer to go. He mentioned just a couple days ago that he doesn't care who drafts him, so long as he gets to play at the next level. All I'm saying is: as great a fit as Ingram seems to be, it would be cool to see Russell and Simmons have the opportunity to grow together, given their friendship.

Simmons is absolutely right not to work out for anyone, as the consensus top prospect and (at worst) number two pick. Him taking time out to shoot a commercial that gets him paid, while not working out is by no means a story. It will be in some circles, but it shouldn't be.

Can we get to the draft already?
