Anthony Brown says he will play in Las Vegas Summer League, D'Angelo Russell and Julius Randle may not

Los Angeles- At NBA 2K's Road to the Finals event, Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Brown intently watched as two teams of five players each competed in the titular game with $250,000. Brown says he's enjoys playing NBA 2K on his Xbox One, but sitting on the couch playing video games isn't how he plans to spend his summer. For the second season in a row, the second round pick will spend his July in the sweltering heat of Las Vegas.

"Yeah I'm playing," Brown told Silver Screen and Roll when asked if he would be back in Vegas this year. He also revealed a few of his teammates may be making a return as well. "Right now D'Angelo [Russell], me, Larry [Nance, Jr.], and Julius [Randle] are all talking about it."

Nance, Jr. would seem like a near certainty to return to Las Vegas before his second NBA season, but more in doubt are the status' of Randle and Russell, both of whom have been invited to play for Team USA's select team in Las Vegas, where they will compete against the players who will represent the United States at the Olympics in Rio.

Team USA's training will overlap with Summer League, which may make it hard for the two to play with the Lakers for the whole tournament.

"They may play maybe one game," said Brown, "but probably nothing because they have to [play on the USA Select Team]."

After playing in just 29 games during his rookie campaign, Brown needs all of the live game action he can get, and Vegas is the perfect place to start. If Brown can use his extra prep time to adjust to NBA range and improve his three-point shooting from the 28.6 percent he shot to closer to the 40.3 percent he shot during his college career at Stanford, he could be a mainstay in the Lakers' wing rotation for years to come. It also might make it easier for him when he plays as himself in 2K

"I'm trying to get 50 in virtual reality," said Brown, who acknowledges that's much different than his real life playing style. "In 2K I'm trying to shoot every time."
