Lakers offseason news: D'Angelo Russell has conquered the great wall of China

New, comments

He also caught up with one of his teammates.

D'Angelo Russell's rookie season did not go as well as the 2015 second overall pick likely would have hoped. The 19-year old averaged 13.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in his debut campaign, respectable but not spectacular numbers. Russell still managed to make the NBA's All-Rookie second team and finish ninth in Rookie of the Year voting, but the guard has entered the summer unsatisfied and focused on improvement.

Russell has hit the gym with an aim towards meeting that goal, and his offseason workouts have been well documented. From his fancy dribbling routines to working on his post-up skills, Russell has been hard at work to make sure he bounces back with a superior sophomore season, sometimes even working out well past midnight.

Russell decided to quite literally go a different route for his workout on Tuesday, walking the Great Wall of China during his visit to the country this week (via Russell's trainer Robbie Haught's Instagram):

Silver Screen and Roll cannot confirm whether or not Russell walked the entire 13-mile plus length of the Great Wall, but he certainly seemed to be enjoying himself. It also looks like he had fun catching up with fellow traveler (and teammate) Jordan Clarkson:

It's good to see two of the Lakers' most promising core pieces enjoying their offseason after such a negative year, and hopefully their travels leave the two rested and restored for next season.
