Kobe Bryant cover announced for NBA 2K17

One more cover for #24.

Kobe Bryant's playing days come to an end on Wednesday night, but that doesn't mean that his fans' days of playing as him are over. The Black Mamba will live on virtually for as long as basketball video games are made.

NBA 2K acknowledged this fact on Wednesday, announcing that NBA 2K17 would release a special "Legend" addition of the latest game in the series. Bryant was last on the cover of NBA 2K10, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the game.

2K says those who order the "Legend" edition of 2K17 will receive "special Kobe-themed memorabilia and in-game digital content, such as a limited-edition Kobe poster, Black Mamba game controller skin and in-game items like Nike Kobe XI shoes, Kobe #8 Mitchell and Ness jersey, Kobe hoodie and more."

To announce the game, the video game publisher also released an ad featuring various Kobe fans (including NBA players Kyrie Irving and Paul George) talking about how they will never stop playing as "the Black Mamba." Check it out:

Kobe may never suit up and play again in real life, but with games like this, his biggest fans will never truly have to let him go.
