The Los Angeles Lakers end their season with a home game against the Utah Jazz, but Wednesday night is all about Kobe Bryant's final game in the NBA. It's going to be an incredibly emotional night in Staples Center, where fans will share one last moment with No. 24. 20 years boils down to 48 minutes and one last buzzer.
The game itself will be hard to focus on, whether it's because all attention will be drawn to Kobe, or what will surely be an incredible presentation from the franchise from start to finish. This will be one long cathartic exercise, and you can bet on plenty of teary-eyed fans to be in attendance. Or if you weren't able to drop a grand on tickets, from wherever it is you'll watch Kobe Bryant's final game of basketball.
Other things will happen, but we'll all be tuned in watching every shot sail away from his finger tips, trying to will it through the hoop using our jedi mind powers. The shadow of Kobe's goodbye is simply too much to escape. And, quite frankly, why would you want to? This Lakers season has been horrible and needed to be done a month ago. It's still hard to comprehend it all comes to an end.
Let us enjoy and embrace our final 48 minutes with Kobe in peace, together.
