Buddy Hield exploded for 37 points on 13-20 shooting in Oklahoma State's Elite Eight victory over the Oregon Ducks on Saturday. The senior superstar drained eight three-pointers and showcased an arsenal of step-back jumpers in the victory, his scoring fueling the Sooners to the Final Four.
When asked about his high-scoring performance following the win, Hield credited the #KobeSystem (kind of).
"As soon as I saw Kobe was here, I knew I had to put on a show," Hield told Brett McMurphy of ESPN. "Blame it on Kobe."
If we could reach him for comment, Kobe would likely say "You're welcome."
Hield isn't the only top NCAA prospect Bryant has scouted in recent days. Kobe also checked out Duke's Brandon Ingram scoring 24 points in Duke's loss to Oregon, where he took pictures with Hield as well.
Bryant said these were the first NCAA tournament games he's ever attended (via Bob Garcia of Sports Out West), and if he decides he liked the experience and wants to stay involved with basketball after he retires, he might just have a future in scouting.
